Healthy Appetizers: Deliciously Healthy

Nobody can resist an attractive appetizer tray lined with delectable shrimp cocktails wrapped in bacon, mouthwatering pigs in the blanket and scrumptious sausages

These dishes are, without a doubt, tasty. They are, however, incredibly high in calories and full of fats. You may not notice this while you enjoy these tasty treat, but you certainly will the next time you look in the mirror.

Instead of eating these calorie packed appetizers, you can prepare a dish that is not only yummy but also nutritious. There are many healthy appetizer recipes that you can prepare. In fact, you do not have to be stuck with a vegetable dish. You can also use healthier alternatives such as tofu, salmon, tuna or chicken.

The chicken and banana appetizer is a great healthy alternative. To make this dish you will need a skinless chicken breast, medium sliced bananas, wheat bread sandwich, eggs, some milk, all purpose flour, bread crumbs and some oil for frying.

Slice the banana and the chicken into 24 pieces. Place the slices on a plate and then set aside.

Beat the eggs and the milk in a small mixing bowl. Make sure that you mix the two ingredients until everything is well blended. You can also add some salt and pepper for extra flavor.

Get the wheat bread and brush each piece with the egg and milk mixture. Set aside.

Coat the chicken and the banana square with the bread crumbs.

Next, dip the chicken and the banana square into the egg mixture.

Deep fry the coated finger food for about five minutes or until golden brown.

Remove the excess oil by draining the food using paper towels.

Transfer to a platter.

Serve and enjoy!
